Mitey Riders serves children with special needs. Many of these children are involved in costly therapy and services to manage their disability. We are so proud to be able to offer an adaptive sport free of charge to our riders.

Through Mitey Riders, our riders get stronger physically and also develop social and emotional skills -- all while having fun with a horse! Through our horses, we reach into a riders’ physical, social, and emotional needs!

SADDLE FITTING — Saddle fitting is one of the most integral parts of keeping a horse happy and sound while riding. We take this to heart and fit each of our Mitey Equines at the start of each riding season and then re-evaluate that fit at least twice throughout the rest of the year. Without sound and happy horses, there would be no program!

During our lessons, we use rings, hooks, buckets, balls, and more to help improve hand-eye coordination, balance, and accuracy. These are life skills that apply to everyday life and to be able to practice on a horse is all the more fun!

Sundance is a barn, volunteer, and rider favorite! He is the sweetest Quarter Horse that takes special care of all of his riders. His job prior to becoming a Mitey Equine included every part of the western riding discipline. He is well rounded and is a beautiful part of our herd!

Mitey Riders wants to shout a HUGE “Thank You!” to our riders, parents, and volunteers that participated in our Mitey Riders Gives Back, Drive By last Saturday! It was such a joy to see all of our riders and their parents, and to be able to share in a giving opportunity together. We were able to donate almost 1,200 pounds of non-perishable food to the Union County Homeless Shelter! Thank you again everyone for such a fun day and grand turnout!
